Butterflies

Butterflies

The artist interprets this image as a swarm of butterflies hovering around an invisible but attractive object. On the other hand, it could be a Rorschach inkblot test, which has run amok.

Midnight in Moscow

Midnight in Moscow

Sometimes creating fractal imagery takes on aspects of photography. “Midnight in Moscow” started out as a very complicated image but I spotted an area that looked like minarets and, with some mathematical coaxing, got the "snapshot".

Spiral

Spiral

The large leaves represent the basins of attraction for the roots of the equation z^11 = 1. As the leaves spiral around counterclockwise, at “3 o'clock” they cross into an invisible plane.

Cosh1

Cosh One

These images are pure fractals that are related to the mathematical function f(z) = cosh(z). They have been rendered with different magnifications. Cosh 2 is the tip of the central part of Cosh 1.

Brokenspiral

Broken Spiral

A pure fractal-like image that results in multiple spirals, which reach out to infinity.

Cosh2

Cosh Two

These images are pure fractals that are related to the mathematical function f(z) = cosh(z). They have been rendered with different magnifications. Cosh 2 is the tip of the central part of Cosh 1.

Meltdown

Meltdown

Deep in the bowels of a nuclear reactor, an eerie glow is being masked by a sinister fractal.

Dragonfly

Dragonfly

A large dragonfly, together with its smaller buddies, is attacking the spot where, just a moment ago, a delicious morsel was roused to move.
